STARFOX ASSAULT

One year after the events of Starfox Adventures, the Star Fox team has restored itself to its former glory. Krystal has joined the team and taken the place for Peppy as he retires flying and aids ROB from within the Great Fox. They enter an orbital gate as a Cornerian fleet battles against Andrew's armada. Fox and the others take flight and take on Andrew's forces only to follow him to Fortuna, where he is destroyed by an alien creature known as an Aparoid. Fox destroys the Aparoid and obtains a Core Memory, only to be followed by thousands of other Aparoids. After narrowly escaping Slippy's father, Beltino, tells the team the importance of the Core Memory and asks for more. Once Fox has obtained another, Beltino is able to come up with an anti-virus to stop the Aparoids, something that would trigger them all to self-destruct if injected into the Aparoid Queen located on their homeworld, as Aparoid's run off a hivemind.

The going gets tough however when the Star Fox team is constantly flanked by Pigma and waves of Aparoids. After destroying Pigma and witnessing what the Aparoid's can do from attacking Sauria and Corneria, it's decided that the team musn't waste time in annihilating the enemy and they head to the Aparoid Homeworld. It's a tough battle, as Fox and the gang are able to get to the core of the planet, aided by the infamous Star Wolf team who show themselves to not be as villanous as they seem. When confronting the Aparoid Queen, Fox is faced with several decisions. When the time comes, he can't hesitate. He must act. Or else all of Lylat will fall into mere drones of the Aparoids.

TRIVIA

-Andrew Oikonny's flagship when transformed, pays homage to his deceased uncle, Andross.

-When Beltino makes his first appearance he says "Hello again everybody"; He has never been seen in prior games (only mentioned in StarFox 64's instruction manual) , insinuating that there have been events that have taken place before Starfox Assault where the team needed his help.

-The Aparoid Queen masks itself as Fox's father at some point in the game. This shows that she has had contact with him in ways we do not know, possibly from the first Aparoid attack 17 years ago into the storyline.

-Xevious is an unlockable game in Starfox Assault. This could hint that Xevious was a precursor to what we would later know as Starfox, or perhaps Namco just wanted to include a similar title of theirs into Assault.
